That jewellery is expensive is an understatement. Most precious pieces of jewellery can be seen more as an investment as opposed to just a purchase. Even so, there are some extra spectacular jewels that take it a notch higher and have earned the reputation of the most expensive jewels of all times. These are all exceptionally precious and are pieces treasured for years by whoever comes into their possession. In this article we have listed out some of these:

1:The Art of De Grisogono:

Designed by Swiss jeweller De Grisogono, the 163-carat diamond is the largest of its kind and fetched over 33.7 million dollars at an auction at a Christie’s event last November. The large stone was discovered in Angola in the Lulo mine two years ago. Today it stands suspended on an emerald and diamond necklace.

2: Lesedi La Rona Diamond:

The world’s second-biggest of gem quality; this 1109 carat diamond was sold for a whopping53 million dollars to luxury jeweller Graff Diamonds in a private sale. The gem was initially found in the Karowe mine in Botswana by Canada’s Lucara Diamond Corp and was named Lesedi La Rona that translates to ‘Our Light’.

3: Pink Star:

The pink star is a 59.6-carat mixed-cut diamond that was sold for a record 71.2 million dollars in Hong Kong at a Sotheby’s auction house. The diamond is a flawless, beautiful, fancy pink jewel and was originally mined by De Beers and is the largest diamond to ever be graded by the Gemological Institute of the US. Jewellery retailer Chow Tai Fook won the diamond at an auction.

4: Diamond Drops:

The biggest pear-shaped diamond drops in the world today, the Miroir de L’Amour weighs over 123.43 carats and was sold for a whopping 18.11 million dollars at Christie’s auction in Geneva, Switzerland, November two years ago.

5: Winston Blue:

Having earned the status of the largest blue diamond in existence today, the Winston Blue was purchased by Swiss watch producer and luxury jeweller Harry Winston Inc. in May 2014. The 13.2-carat gem was auctioned off at a price of 23.8 million dollars at Christie’s Geneva.

6: L’incomparable Diamond Necklace:

Supposedly the most expensive diamond necklace in existence today, the 637-carat L’incomparable diamond necklace was priced at a huge amount of 55 million dollars at a jewellery show that took place in Singapore in 2013. The exquisite gem was originally created by luxury jeweller Mouawad.
